Re: Arothron Stellatus... Who has one raise your hand!
So I'm in Orlando and saw the aquarium in the airport. I don't think I saw the puffer... I took some pictures and when I get home I can put them up. I saw some big fish but they didn't really look like the picture in pufferpedia so maybe he died? They had a little porcupine puffer that was at the top of the aquarium looking very sad and not swimming around at all. The fish didn't really look very healthy and the tank was kind of ugly
I will post up pics as soon as I get home (wednesday sometime) so you all can see for yourself.

What size tank do you think it was? I would think you'd see a puffer that size. Maybe it started eating their fish? I think the origional owner was complaining about that. I warned him...

Well in an earlier post the guy with the puffer said the tank was 3000 gallons but it didn't really look THAT big to me... Or maybe it is that big but the tank is a big cylindar shape and in the center is a big fake rock thing that really takes away from most of the swimming room.

I think it would be amazing to see someone successfully take care of ANY fish this large at home, giant aquariums or not. =/

Re: Arothron Stellatus... Who has one raise your hand!
Okay well I'm back home so I can put up the pictures I took. They came out pretty terrible with tons of glare but its in the center of the foodcourt in the airport so lots of crazy neon lights around around. When I flew out (today) it was feeding time for the fish so they were all kinds of crazy swimming around. There was actually a second porcupine puffer in there, a bigger one than the one I mentioned in an earlier post. He was probably around 9 inches. They are so adorable even when giant! I didn't want to take out my camera and take more pictures though, there were tons of little kids and families standing around and I felt just a little bit stupid.

Enjoy the pictures, they are quite terrible though! And as you can see, I don't think there is one of those giant puffers arothron stellatus!

I don't think a big anthron could fit in there. I don't like that sort of decor--all they can do is swim in circles. They must have to do hugwe WC on that tank, with no live rock.

Or at least they SHOULD be doing large water changes. The fish didn't look that great imo, I see much healthier ones at my LFS. And yeah, the decoration is UGLY and very boring for the poor fishes. That big one in the first picture never moved. He just swam in the same place kind of running into some of the rockstuff. You would think if you're going to have a big fish tank in an airport you would make it look nice and pretty! Especially the Orlando one where there are little kids all of the time. All I heard while standing there was "MOMMY WHERE's NEMO!?!" lol

That's the same tank they have at the Rainforest Cafe. Also with unhealthy puffers in it.

I've never been a fan of upright tanks, I don't see how this suits the fish. I can't think of one fish that swims in circles all day. They must be very stressed in there
That porc looks a little skinny to me too

When I was there the second time during feeding time I didn't see the little porc eating anything, just the big one

Big Tank + Hammer= Flooded Airport
But that tank is seriously HUGE. Did you see how small that Yellow Tang looked? Wow.
It doesn't matter if they don't keep it up well, though. I wonder who they have take care of it?
