Q: Does BIO-Spira® need to be refrigerated?

A: BIO-Spira® is an active bacteria culture. Refrigeration provides the optimal long-term storage. If BIO-Spira® is left out of the refrigerator at room-temperature, it will still perform at optimal conditions. However, it is best to return BIO-Spira® to refrigeration when possible.

Use the following as a guide:
a. Long Term Storage (1 year): 50°F (10°C)
b. Mid Term Storage (6 months): 39°F-87°F (4°C-31°C)

Oh, sorry. I was always under the impression that if it wasn't constantly refrigerated, it would go bad. I think a lot of people thought that. My apologies.

No worries. I was gonna say something about temperature, but figured it would just over complicate the response.

Ideally it should be refridgerated or at least kept at a constant "cool" temp. They even say that a "brief" exposure to high temps like being left in a car shouldn't effect it. I dunno about you, but my black car with black interior gets pretty damn hot in the sun... I don't know how well it would do...

When I got the pack of Bio-Spira from the fish store, it was stored in their countertop fridge. I anticipated that it was going to be warm, so I packed an insulated lunch bag with a dry ice pack inside. We actually went straight home and then the pack of Bio Spira went straight back into the fridge. I think we've done the best we could to keep the Bio-Spira cold...but how it was handled before we purchased it was out of our hands.

Next time, I will try mail ordering it instead.
