Its called caribsea super naturals. It says ph neutral (will not increase carbonate hardness). I was worried about those factors that's why I chose this type.

There are thousands of references and suggestions for tank cycling, but I wanted to clear this before doing anything drastic. I planner on leaving the media and carbon from my 20 gallon to seed my 10 gallon but many individuals say (especially when going from large to small) that with a healthy colonized media, the tank is cycled as soon as you drop the used media in the new tank? Even if this is the case, I cannot purchase any fish for another 4 or more days and would test parameters before dropping anything in there. Are people mistaken thinking this?

You have to feed any bacteria in that tank with ammonia, if there are no fish to produce it. Add the same amount as you would to cycle an uncycled tank.

I wanted to post an update. The tank redo has been cycling for well over a week now (pics are attached), lots of greenery in here (some helferi, vallisneria, and miscro swords), and I created a cool upward slope of sand into the top right corner using some lava rocks, think they'll love it.

What's the SG in there? I'm afraid most of those plants will "melt" at the proper SG for a F8.
