Anything from 1.017-1.022 will be okay for a GSP with live rock only.

I stand corrected. I may cut down on my SG levels myself then, considering I have no corals.

Okay so my new 36 gallon tank is set up and running. When the water is cycled and perfect for my GSP how should I properly drip acclimate him to it? I've never used this method before.

Put him in a bucket with the water he is in now. Tie a knot in an air hose, to have the water from his new tank drip into the bucket with the fish. You can raise the SG in the bucket .002/hour. Keep removing the water in the bucket, to help with the process.

Wow that will take like 9 hours lol okay so how should I keep the bucket covered so he won't jump out? But I don't want it to be pitch black in the bucket for him.

Your other choice is to set up the larger tank at the same SG he's in now & raise the SG .002/week.

What tends to happen when you move quick like this, is you later decide you need something different than what you started with. Canister and hang on back filters are not good with SW. If you get lots of live rock, you could get away with a few powerheads and a good skimmer only. Make sure you have the equipment you need for saltwater before you get the fish in the tank. You will also likely get diatom algae, which is normal so don't let it freak you out. Do you have a light over the tank? What have you decided to do? If you're going to keep your GSP in a bucket for many hours, drip acclimating him, make sure you have a small heater in the bucket with him, unless your room temps are warm enough to not have the water get below the temp of the tank he'll be going into.

That't what I did Nikki. The idea of doing SW was very overwhelming to me. Get the hang of mixing BW & raising the SG & then add a skimmer & add rock slowly. I'd start with aragonite sand in the new tank.
