Why is it that Celyons always seem to have a black belly? is it just stress?

Most of the time, yes. When they're in their proper conditions they are white and bright colored and look great. They also change color when hunting.

However, most people don't realize that ceylons require high brackish, and up to marine waters. So, when you see ceylons with dark bellies, it's generally because of stress/bad conditions.

Is that what they have at the store? Ceylons?

I'm pretty sure that's what they've got. The one he's got me is 4inches long, there was a bigger one but he said it's fins were a mess. I was a bit worried it might be a F8, but saying that F8's only grow to 3inches so it shouldn't be an F8.

You should be able to tell the difference. But the healthy one

I'm quite sure it's not an F8 at 4 inches. Does it have any spotting near its stomach, yet?

I don't know yet, I couldn't get there today so going tomorrow. I seem to remember they were selling gsp's for £5 and this puffer is costing me £60, so don't think they'd sell a f8 for that price. I know that's loads of money but I haven't seen Celyons in any shop I've been to.

It is quite expensive, but if it is really a ceylon then you may as well go for it. Ceylons seems to be rare.

Just picked up my puffer today and he's a Giant GSP. He's exactly what I was hoping for Here's a couple of pix. I'll get better ones when he's in the tank.

Yes I aclimatised him yesterday and he's now in full marine SW

I am gutted I didn't see this thread earlier. We get ceylons all the time here in maidenhead aquatics, labelled as spotted puffers for £8
