If you remove the plant do you think he will come round? If so maybe put some small fast growing plants in so he gets used to them slowly. However a healthy puffer wont allow himself to starve to death over something which pisses them off. Put a large item of food (a muscle etc) in nearby before lights out leave the room for 10 mins or so pop back with a flashlight and i am sure it will be gone. Just make sure he sees it go in

This may seem odd, but when my fahaka is pissed with me i put in food,,,,leave the room.... Pop back in 10 he sits looking at me like i dont like you but the food is gone and he looks fatter lol

That is EXACTLY what Ares done when we put him in his new tank. Same spot...food was gone...same pissy face...lol!

At this point I think you need to remove the plant. If the pant is upsetting him THIS much, it's not okay to be in there. He needs to eat, because it has been way too long.

I agree sometimes we need to give up maybe try small fast growing plants

ive had the plant out . does not matter. when i put the plant in three weeks ago he was ripping around for 2 weeks with the plant in there. when i left town for 7 days . i had a friend feed him . when i cam back he did not eat at all its been 8 days now. but i was told a hunger strike can last for two weeks . so only time will tell. ive tried every thing from taking out plant . to Epson salts. to taking out all the tetras . changing light . i dont know what more i can do . i left town my buddy says the fish was eating like a champ when i was gone come back acting weird

How is his body condition? Does he still look OK? Pinched belly? Can you get us a picture perhaps? If he's looking good then I wouldn't worry too much right now.

looks good for now. just laying on the bottom. when he does swim its like for a minute than lays. when he usually always moving and ripping around

puffer is still pooing but its very little and yellow
