I met him in a bar. We used together for 12 years. 8 years ago I had 5 years clean & left this man, a "hopeless" addict, not willing to look at his disease, teasing me for going to so many meetings, calling us all "weak-willed" losers, because we can't stop using on our own. He was drinking to blackouts & we have weapons in our home. I was beginning to fear for my life. I have a lot of fish tanks to care for here & that was one of the things keeping me here. One night he was in a blackout, I had locked myself in the bathroom & he was threatening to smash my tanks if I didn't come out & talk to him. Up until that moment, I was terrified to leave & afraid I couldn't survive on my own. All my life, all I ever wanted was someone to love me. I went to a meeting that night & a friend offered his home to me. Something inside of me gave me the faith that God would take are of me & I left. That was the last day he ever used. Next month, he will have 8 years & we couldn't be happier!

Well, here's to many more happy and clean years. You guys have been through a lot and it sounds like it's made the relationship that much stronger.

Yes, J-P, years. Lol. It's been 6 years and just over 11 months. 3 weeks left to the 7 year anniversary. Yikes.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

+1. Its nice to hear a real life story with a good end.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Teens? I am not real clear on teens. I do recall my son's teens. I thought that one of us was going to have to go. Thank goodness for going off to school!
