It looks to me like he is trying to find the biggest tank he can

Thank you Xray. I am trying to find the BIGGEST tank possible. 125 seems too small for an almost 2ft fish! I wan't a tank thats 7'x4'x26". That would be IDEAL. I want him to be comfortable. Like I said he is still UNDER 2 INCHES the 40g is plenty big for the time being while I find a larger tank. When I got him he was in a 20g I got him a 40g and I am moving up over time. I mean really. I am trying to fix what has happened and honestly it is quite irritating getting bashed from every angle. Granted I don't have as much compassion for other fish compared to my puffer, but thats how I am. I will look for some local forums I can join and fix it from there.

How about making a divider to seperate the other fish?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

That's a really good idea. I think that the divider would need to allow waterflow though, or 40g has just been cut down to less, and even a 2" Fahaka seems to have a pretty hefty bioload.

If a 10g tank is available, then by all means put the other fish in there so Gilbert can have the 40 to himself. They will all be happier that way, and you can continue your search for a larger tank without the other fish needing to be stressed or killed. Gilbert will most likely be happier on his own as well.

That would be a good temporary plan. I wasn't trying to get on your case, I was just suggesting getting the largest tank you can find for now. Your long term plans seem perfect for this puffer.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Thank you. I am looking into it all the time. But like I said I don't think he minds the 40g since he is under 2 inches still.
