The biofilter function and development is not hindered at all by the Prime. Someday we will have better test kits to really read ammonium ion versus dissolved ammonia gas, but the existing ones are not very user-friendly and I do not recommend them for most hobbyists.
Thank for the reply. I use the water testing kit from API, which works for both salt water and fresh water, but which color card should I compare to? Few days ago both color show sign of ammonia, but now the fresh water does and saltwater doesn't. I have done research on google and found a forum where someone actually emailed API and API's response was to base it on freshwater. here is the link:

Yep, I agree. I am currently working on the snail colony. The eggs have been laid, I am just waiting for the eggs to hatch. For the clam and mussels should worry about preservatives and stuff? Or can I just make a crack in the shell and let the puffers at them? Thanks

If you by raw and fresh from the seafood department or frozen fresh there should be no preservatives..
