I, too, am v. sorry to hear about the loss of your Baileyi, PPG. I can emphathize all too well because I lost my Baileyi to ich last week. Folks were very kind w all their suggestions in the hospital forum, but despite our good intentions s*** happens. I, too, got very emotional over the loss and realized that it doesn't matter whether your pet is a fish or a dog or a bird, or whatever. We become emotionally attached to the creatures we share our lives with, and when they pass we're in mourning. I agree that you should give yourself time before getting another puffer. Take stock and enjoy the fish you have and keep remembering Babs and all the pleasure she gave you. That's the best tribute you can offer her. And btw -- my guy was going bald too. I've read that the baileyis are v. hairy when they are little, and they lose it as they grow bigger.

Thank you LisaS, yours is the first message I've read today, and what good words to start the day with. Thank you. I'm also very sorry for your loss Lisa of your Baileyi. At least my girl went quickly and that's the best I can ask for, if they are going to die I'd rather it be fast -- but that's being totally selfish, so I don't suffer too long (I hope that's understandable and I don't seem uncaring).

I'm very sorry to read about your loss. I agree totally with LisaS. Pets have a way of working into our hearts like beloved family members. Growing up in my family we had several cats and a dachshund that, had they outlived us, would likely have been provided for in my parents' will. My Dad was a pastor (now retired) and we had bona-fide funerals at graveside for our beloved pets. Again, LisaS is right... Fish are no different in this regard.

Take time to grieve so your heart will be ready for that next special puff!
