Well, somehow I missed the start of this thread - I was likely in a low-vision period.

So give us info on the tank specs - density and temp and current especially...

It was an emergency purchase, so for now she's living in my refugium. It's 20g, flow going across from the output to an overflow, tons of rock rubble to poke around in & a fake mangrove root & I keep the lights off to keep it cool in there, during the day & turn it on in the evening. I have a 46g bowfront in the works for her. She's about 2" & eats like a killer!

Is that the fuge for your reef? If so, is warmish?

Getting the T. ocellatus out into a cooler part of the house would likely be helpful from what I hear. After the first one I tried, all of mine were bottom tier in the tank room (coolest), but it still did not work long-term. But I doubt that my water was as good as yours from the reef is. Mine were all housed in a 40-long with a 20-long live rock fuge end-to-end. I used all exterior pumps for the later trials, but i still had a bit of water heating from them. .

Yes, it's plumbed to my reef tank. I have a fan over the canopy/lights & a huge box fan in front of the sump. I think the new digital thermometer I just bought is flawed, because it registers 75-77 degrees, when all the other tanks in that room (with no fans though) say 80+.

I am working on purchasing a new tank for the fellow that will be kept in the cooler living room, which remains around 722 all the time. The T5 bulbs I'll be getting should run fairly cool.

I'm trying to do some research on these guys. I'll post any information I find.

-they spawn in FW, live in SW
-most likely live in the East China Sea / Yellow Sea region
-males are smaller but both sexes are normally between 22cm and 26cm
-they're actually quite successfully bred in China on a large scale

She's pretty active but does hang out in her cave a lot.

Congrats! I looked at the wholesalers list the other day at my LFS, and saw takifugu ocellatus. Shame my marine tank is a bit small, and I only really care for the corals. Maybe some other time

what kind of substrate are you using? or planning on using?
