Thanks so much. I found some metronidozole and started using it tonight. Can you recommend a dosage? The container says 1-2 spoonfuls per 10 gallons. I used less than the recommended dosage as I know puffers being scaleless do better with smaller doses but I also read it's difficult to overdose metronidozole. I added 1.5 spoonfuls to my 30 gallon tank. That doesn't sound like enough...but I didn't want to overdue it. Please help me know how much to add.

For a 30 gallon, use 4 or 5 spoons. It's not particularly dangerous to puffers, like many common external parasite meds are.

If you are treating parasites, I believe you need to use the full dosage, or the bug gets immune to the meds. But as long as they offer 1-2 spoons, go ahead & start with 1.

He's looking pretty bad. just hovering the whole time, I have to keep making sure he's still alive. I hope he starts eating soon. I'm going to get s syringe soon so I can inject his food.

I did a %50 water change and added more medicine. The bottle says to repeat every other day until symptoms go away. I think I will do %50 water changes and add 2 spoonfuls with the replacement water. Should I add 4 spoonfuls every other day? What do you recommend?

Also, I think he might have HITH. The spot on his head is really sinking. There is also stuff coming off of it. I tried to get a picture of it. The wound has been changing color, getting cloudy since the medicine. In the pictures it looks open but it still seems to be on the skin but like his skin turned white and is indented. He didn't even try to eat tonight, although I left a worm in his tank and when I came back his belly looked a little bit rounder.

His back bottom fin is also starting to decay. I have a picture of that also. how do I treat this? will the metrnidozole help any?

He seems to want to rest all the time, should I keep the lights out always?

I injected a worm with some disolved medicine but was unable to get him to eat. He's been floating around aimlessly bumping into things and the hole in his head is deeper and looks worse.

He sort of had a spasm and I watched his pass some very strange white-ish stuff, almost liquid. Very thin and wispy. It looked kind of like milk.

I'm going to do a water change now. I don't know what else I can do.

Mookie the green spotted puffer died this morning. Although his life was short, he brought so much life to my apartment and happiness to my life. I will miss him so much.
