I did go to my local fish store today and they had one of the fancy new Fluval G canister filters. It fully automated, AND EXPENSIVE. Anyway, I did put my ear up to that one and it makes the same amount of noise that mine does, or close to is so Im happy. I just didnt want mine making more noise than it should, and I have never heard one before so I had no clue what to expect.
I really dont mind the noise of mine, much better than HOB filters. I think Im going to line my stand where the canister is kept with styrafoam to help insulate some of the noise.
I do miss freshwater in a way though. I thought everything was so much easier. All you needed was a cheap filter and a heater to get started, and anything else could be added along the way.
