Thinking of getting a Fahaka

I dont think reef sand would stay live for long I may be wrong. whatever substrate you decide on just be sure it isnt sharp. I currently use mix of tahitian moon sand and black gravel 50/50. puffs still can bury self easy. just be careful with sand when you see them bury self you will know why. (stirs up sand and your filters suck it in)

Thats what I am afraid of, because I am running huge filters, I am worried they will suc up the sand when he/she does dig. The gravel i have now is very small a smooth, I thought worst case I could mix sand with it?. What is live sand?, and should I use it? Petsmart is sold out of the reg stuff, they had 22lbs
bags for 22 bucks, but they are gone, they have two smaller bags of live sand, i thought I could mix it with the gravel at one one of the tank at least?

not sure if its in a bag its live probably porus sand that can cultivate living organizms?., best bet would be to hit up a place that sells jacuzzis an pools find some pool sand. or find a 3m rep and get there color quartz (i think thats name of it.)

I gots lots of pool places here in the city, maybe I'll ring up one or two and see what it costs, I hear its heavy, so the filter pick up less as well?

yeah pool sand is heavy would be ideal for aquarium situation not sure if can get in various colors tho.

I have to say, this looking for a fahaka is getting a bit tiresome, noone with a 3 hour drive of me has any, And none of the supplers I know of have any.
So hard to be patient.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! I FOUND A FAHAKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 hours away from me they have 10 of them $40 each, small little guys I am gonna go get one next week YAY!!!!!
Now I won't sleep for the next week LOL!

OMG, 10??? Better get there soon--I have a feeling they're all together. Try to pick out the one that is torn up the least, has a round belly & greets you at the glass. Make them feed the tank & watch them eat.

I dont have a place to keep him yet flutter has to come get her SAPs, That and my car is being fixed so I have no way of getting there yet But I will do what you advised, the feeding thing is a good idea as well

I also just bought 100 Bls of pool sand, cost me 26 bucks for two 50 lbs bags So do I need to wash the sand like I do with gravel, I know dumb question but I've never used sand before thought i'd ask?

KK I will do just that, the sand is a nice grey colour I am looking forward to setting up his tank The root I got for his tank is so nice
