^ Based on what the author said in that article, i don't think rams are the smartest either, or maybe its just puffers are just as smart, since when ever my puffers see me getting out their special cups for defrosting food they know its feeding time as well...

My discus all watch TV.

they said there fish runs from the net. My puffers love my net! Net does not equal capture Net = snails

My puffers also watch tv, specialy my Fahaka! In the morning when my son is watching tv, the child programs, Faya is always watching

And i think, from al the fish i've had my puffers are the smartest, specialy the big ones

Yupp, I remember seeing that... Octopus are pretty handy. They can do children's puzzles (fit the appropriate shape through the hole) and open bottles/jars for food. It's so cute seeing those tentacles zip across the sand with that coconut, haha.

Someone wrote that cuttlebone should not be purchased. Why ever not? I have a liftime supply, collected on a beach in Mauritania - breding grounds are offshore there. The crittrs have limited lifespand and the cuttlebones float and wash ashore. The kids of the town collect them in quantity and get paid for it. Not exactly exploitation, more making use of limited resources. I have no doubt the eporter makes more money than the kids, but the fish collection trade is quite similar, the exporter makes more than the collector, and the retaile makes the most per fish.

I consider Cichlids quite interesting and intelligent. I consider puffers to be the same. There are more beautiful cichlids than puffers, but there are also a lot more Cichlids than puffers. And cichlids can be bred.

We have Kaleeko our Mbu in our other living room, and when we're sitting and watching tv, you can see one corner of the tank, and whenever my bf and I are in the opposite room, Kaleeko is swimming up and down in the one corner that he can see us, it's like he's staring at us expecting us to glance over and want to feed him.. and I'll have to admit it works sometimes!

Sorry, I still fail to see the attraction to cichlids. They might be "pretty", but they lack something that puffers have. A puffer might not be as aesthetically pleasing as a cichlid or other fish, but they definitely have something that all other fish fail to have. Puffers are individual, cichlids are just like every other one.
Obviously this is only my opinion, and I tend to be a little biased.

** In regards to what L!$A said about Kaleeko --- I think my BeeBoo stays down this end of the tank because he can sit here right by me when I'm at the computer and hang out with me. I must admit, I love looking over and seeing his cute little smiling face!

I totally agree! Everytime I see him, I can't help but smile! Puffers are simply the best.

I can't imagine why--they have a very short lifespan.
