I think so. I can't believe they ever get larger than 18", even in captivity. Same goes for the Burrfish.

I found a very reasonable 120 gallon today online comes with sump, heater, skimmer and many other things.
I swear I have to be done after this, four tanks will be enough.
My question is this, we spoke about setting up the water. I know someone who works at a aquarium wholesale place and they could get me some of the water they use to start my tank off. Would this be a good idea? They have ALOT, they have a shark bigger than i am!

That would probably be helpful but not totally necessary. It's the cured rock that is most important.

Awesome. I have the means to transport about 30 gallons at a time. Would starting with about 30 gallons of 'used' water be good?

I am not an expert but I believe the live rock was cured. We pulled it out a of a giant in ground tank with what I think was a nurse shark in it! From there it was 10 minutes into my tank and buckets.

Only time & lots of testing will tell you for sure what condition the rock is in.

Got the big tank into place today, will begin filling it shortly.
Have to go stockpile salt tomorrow morning!

I got one that was more squarish shape (not quite but definitely not a long style tank).
I assumed this would be ideal for one large fish instead of a tank that was long but not wide.

Longer footprint (more forward swimming room) is always best. How many gal? What are the dimensions?

It is a 120 gallon. Not sure on the dimensions but, I looked at some 125 gallons and they were just 18 inches wide!! That did not seem appropriate to me for a fish that could potentially grow just inches shy of that. I know any animal that cannot turn around in its own enclosure will suffer problems. So I got my tank which is at least two feet wide, but probably more.

120 is fine.

Compared to green spotted puffers how would you guys rate the porcupines temperment to other fish?
Watching both of them, I feel like the GSPs are much meaner. Also I have seen tanks with porcupines and smaller fish, never seen that with a GSP unless it was lunchtime.
