My temperate reef tank is 62˚Fahrenheit and my room is about 68˚, no chiller.

Um...

Feeding mussels to my puffer. they're about 2" long and i've tried serving them on the half-shell, but he doesn't take to them as much... is it ok to server them to him partially open?

FYI- I did freeze them for a few days first.

I always cracked them in half and fed them on the "half shell."

Well, i cracked it most of the way open, and dropped it in. He seemed to respond better to the mostly-open mussel as opposed to the half-shell variety

He didn't finish it all off though, so I might try to get him weened on to the half shell version.

I was going to suggest an electric blanket, sweatpants, socks and a hoodie sweatshirt. Maybe girlfriend with the same outfit on? Watch the puffs? hehe

BTW, my eldest son wants a fugu puff! I think he just wants a puff that burries itself. I'm dreaming of a Fahaka one day.

Chubby is an adorable big fugu! Sushi is totally batting her eyelashes and flapping her tail at him. Best of luck to you!

Chubby still only eats sporradically. I added some LR rubble and a simple (Cheap!) air powered skimmer from Ebay to help with his filtration.

He loves Omega One algae wafers, but I try not to overfeed those to him. Mussels are offered daily, but he only picks at those lately. It's Live Ghost Shrimp for dinner tomorrow night...

If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, you can try to get a bag of frozen "seafood medley" which contains shrimp, scallops and squid. I cut them into smaller pieces with scissors and save them in a tupperware in the freezer. My fugu loves those.

Jo, my eldest, Nathan, loves Sushi! He points at her when he sees your posts online. He wants me to get a Fugu and use white sand. I told him that Fahakas love to bury in sand, too. I have gravel in my F8 tank. Not brave enough to go sand. My other tank was sand and I ended up sucking some out every single water change.

Yeah, I personally would not recommend white sand because it is really hard to keep clean. I also had that problem with sand loss every time I did a WC. I completely gutted Sushi's tank and put in black aragonite sand and it's so much easier to maintain. The sand is really not that fine anymore and I was worried at first. Sushi has no problem burrowing in it and it doesn't seem to scratch her belly, so it might be something for you to consider down the road.
