400 liter Fahaka tank.

My old top with T8 light malfunctioned a couple of months ago, so I had to invest in a new light-top.
Went for T5 lights this time...
Did some repairs on the tank as well.

The rootwork which I base my design on has been stored in black garbage bags while awaiting a new life.
The centre of rootwork is this:



4 different roots are screwed together on a mahogany plank.
The Java moss seems to have survived a month of darkness...

Got so far before lunchtime...

It is the same tank.
T5 lights work like a charm!

Babe (Fahaka) will go in when the aquascaping is finished.
I value my fingers...

Started on the brackish setup as well.
Will be home to Izabella (GSP).
SG beetween 1.010 and 1.012.
Am a firm believer in overfiltration.
The Fahaka tank is powered by a JBL 500 External Bio-filter, 2 Fluval 4+ Internal Filters, as well as the built-in Juwel filter.
The GSP tank has a JBL 250 External Bio-filter, 1 Fluval 2+ Internal Filter, as well as a small powerhead for current.

Brackish tank. Should ideally be all-glass, but I work with what I have.



Stealth Carbon Heater, hidden behind the biggest rock. (I do not use glass heaters in any puffer tank.)



Small powerhead down at the bottom. Will be hidden by rocks.



Mechanical filtration in place, resting on a small limestone. Will also be supported by rocks.
The rubber suction cups will be hardened by the salt in no time and loose its grip.





New batch of brackish water is maelstroming in the big bucket.
Time to call it a day.

I was wondering for how long you have Toshiro and on what type of water do you keep him, temperature salinity ect.

Yeah, kids are growing at an alarming rate.
My youngest turned 5 a bit over a month ago, my eldest turned 18 in February and is moving in with her boyfriend the 1st of May.
Time flies!

I have had Toshiro for a bit over 3 months.
He is in a temporary 40 liter tank.
Salinity 1.005. Doesn't have a heater in the tank.
Guess the temp is around 20-22 celsius.
He seems to be thriving.

I have a 80 liter tank ready, and this will be the last tank I put up.
Will try for a planted low-end brackish enviroment.
Should suit young Toshiro well...

I hope your fahaka doesn't tear up that nice moss on there. It looks great!

No, I do not think my sweet Babe will go for the moss.
The plants on the other hand...
Fahakas tend to vigorously "move" offending plants.

I will do some plant shopping when I can afford it.
Am aiming for low plants which hopefully will cover most of the bottom, and some Vals on either side of the tank.
