is your water definitely at 1.009? Know your using a refractometer so should be accurate.. but can you check it somewhere...

he need some kind of food.. i'm really surprised he's not got a concave belly by now, having not eaten in a few days.

Did you find out if/what he was eating at the LFS?

I didn't. I'll have to call tonight if I remember. I'm also really confused as to why he doesn't have a sunken stomach. He's been pooping, too, but there's absolutely nothing in the tank he could possible eat...

He looked kinda "jiggly" when water was pushing past him (when he was near the filter output), so I thought he might have air in him (thus making him appear not to have a sunken stomach). However, he sits on the bottom of the tank without moving any fins, so I'm guess if he had air in him, he would be floating to the top more?

my porc sat under a rock for three weeks ... didn't swim. Every day i thought he would die.. but he didn't.

He was eating though and would swim to eat, then go and sit down again... so.... not much help.

One thing, my porc was active/more active at night.. have you looked at night/when the lights are off?

If he's pooed recently, he MUST have eaten recently.. it's biology!

Yeah, I'm guessing he ate something at the LFS, I'll have to call and figure out what. Then again, he was also a bit more active at the store, so I've probably ruined his appetite with all this hypo treatment and water changes.

I think he was only there for a few days, though, so yeah.

I have been keeping the lights off and just have the room light turned on (as the tank is in my office anyways), plus the sunlight keeps the house kinda bright during the day, so there's no real need for lights if it's going to stress him out.

Well, from what I've read, it's not marine velvet. He has visible white spots (lots of them) all over his fins and skin. From what I read of marine velvet, a lot of it is "dusting" and whatnot and resembles velvet (hence the name), but this looks like full circle dots that are all about the same size (maybe the size of larger sugar grains?).

I'd say I'll take a picture, but I don't have a camera that works.

Yeah, it would help if it was working--can't take a good pic with a broken one.

Anyone have good pictures of marine velvet that I can compare it to?

Unfortunately, there was a very bad mishap, and the poor guy was sucked into my python in the 3 seconds it took for me to turn on the tap and sprint to the tank.

He puffed up, and it cut open a 1 inch gash from under his eye all the way to his gill. There was nothing I could do to help him (couldn't even sew it, as it was split so close to his eye and gill), and at his already-weak state, there was nothing I could do.

I'm currently in the process of euthanizing with clove oil, and then with white-grain alcohol after he is asleep. I feel horrible, but these things happen sometimes. It's just sad to see his happen while I'm trying to heal him, and to happen to such a little trooper.

That is soooooo sad. I'm so sorry. I sucked a fish in the python before also. It happened so fast, I know how you feel.
