Yes, adding B-S to an empty tank is a waste of a good product, unless your'e goiong to feed it.

what puffer are you going to get this time? dont forget the salt if its BW. you might have to do some research at your lockal FS and check to make sure that if you want a brackish puffer they are in salt water condistions and what the salinity is

okay i cleaned out all the decor and placed them in the tank. i'm probably going to buy crush coral today or tomorrow.

so for sure do a FISHLESS cycle? because the guy a my lfs told me to put 3 danio's during my cycle.

Zebra Danios are considered quite hard fish so people have used them for a cycle because they can withstand the ammonia and nitrites that come with a cycle, some people disagree with using fish to cycle a tank, others don't. It's all about if you feel comfortable doing it. Personally I dont like the idea of using fish to cycle a tank when it can be done other ways without harming a fish.

I don't think you'll find anyone who's been around here for a while, that thinks it's a good idea to cycle with fish.

If you use fish to cycle, they are suffering through ammonia burns and poor water conditions. Plus then you have to find a home for them when you are done.

If you fishless cycle, it takes a few weeks but you dont' harm any fish in the process.

If you use biospira, you can have an instant cycle, but its expensive and has to be stored correctly (refridgerated) for it to work.

alright i'm going to take out the danios.

about cycling, what goes on in the 4 week period? ie: with the ammonia nitrite levels?
