That would be an awesome setup for a porcupine puffer. The custom tank might be pretty expensive though. I won't be getting another one until I can provide at least 180 gallons (72"x24"x24"), even for a very small puffer.
I had my porc (still small, was only about 5") in a 75gal with a 50gal sump, skimmer and about 100lbs of rock. With light daily feedings, I was doing weekly WC's of 30-40gallons to keep the nitrates under 20ppm. I thought the puffer would be ok in this tank until he got bigger, but it really was a struggle to keep the water parameters in check.
What ended up killing the fish was the introduction of another fish without QT. The fish died a couple days later and passed velvet onto the porc which died the same day the symptoms appeared. Lesson learned.
With all that said, I can't wait until I get another porcupine puffer. It was by far the coolest fish I've ever owned. But I also know that it's my job to provide it with a suitable home, and I just don't have the room in the house right now.
So I'll stick with a F8 in a 40g until I get a bigger house.
