Okay, so here we have it, my newest and last addition (for now anyway) to Burt & Kitty2's lair.

It's Josie! The reason I have named this new little girl "Josie" is because that's my Aunt's name (my mother's sister) and as this newest pygmy is much smaller and much younger than the other female, I thought it was fitting because my Aunt is 10 years younger than my mother and she used to always be with my mother and father. So that's the explanation for the name.

This little girl is quite active and was walking all around the carrier container I had her in from where I got her. I thought she would have hunkered down and waited until we got home, but she was moving all around. Very inquisitive.

On a different note, I think I interrupted Burt & Kitty2 during their "courting" behaviour today. Burt was a really odd colour, never seen him like that before. So who knows. But now he's got two women to satisfy. You go Burt!

Here's the photos of Josie.

Awwwwww. :3

She looks really great! I especially like the first pic. La menage et trois c'est tres bien, non?

Very well camouflaged in the last picture, I might add. I'd never notice her if I didn't know she was there!

So far things are going well with the addition of Josie, although she seems to spend most of her time hanging upside down from the screen at the top of the terrarium.

I got the much smaller crickets this last time when I bought some. I talked with Karen about crickets when I was there and she said that mostly the bigger crickets will bite the chameleons if they get a chance, so I was hoping that by getting the tiny ones that, even if they did bite, it would not be too hurtful to them. I am thinking about getting some of those flightless fruitfly cultures, they had them at the shop where I got the "bug grub" yesterday, but my only question about that is - how do you get them out? :?

Trust me Lesley, I'm not very keen on dealing with bugs either, but the good part is that there's this box called a Kricket Keeper and it makes dealing with the crickets very easy. The go up into these tubes and when you need to get some out, you just extract a tube, put a cap on the end, so they can't get out, and then tap them into the terrarium as needed. Brilliant idea and makes dealing with the crickets very easy. (No more crickets going AWOL in the house!)

Got a question for you Jose -- Have you cleaned your terrarium yet? If so, how much substrate did you take out and did you remove your chameleon to do so? I still have yet to see any poop from these guys, although I see them eating regularly and I've had them for a couple of months now, so there's got to be feces in there. I don't want to disturb them, but at the same time, I don't want them living in nasty conditions either.

On a different note, we were going to the reptile show that's happening tomorrow in Doncaster, but my husband has finally been offered some overtime at work, and that's more important, especially since I don't have the space for any more pygmies right now, so even if they had some at excellent prices, I would not be able to get any. And so mabye it's a good thing that we can't go. I might try to attend the show that's taking place in September, because who knows, maybe by then I will have another terrarium ready for more pygmies! :D

I have cleaned mine once so far besides spot cleans. I pick out poop when I see it. Its not often so its easy to keep up with. When I did the major clean she was up in the tree so I just left her there. I removed all the large husk on top and a bit of the plantation soil, stirred the rest of the soil and soaked it down really well. I also added more wet soil cuz I didnt put much large husk back. Just a little to simulate leaf litter. Its seems to be difficult for her to move on cuz it moves as she steps, plus its easier to clean up and crickets cant hide as easily. I pulled out the vine and fake plant hanging from the top. The real plants shouldnt be messed with in my opinion. Theres no need to pull out and have to replant. Pothos is growing like weeds and the mini ficus is doing well also. I have trimmed the pothos plants twice already believe it or not. Oh, if your heater is on make certain to shut it off a couple hours before hand so when you soak your terra down it doesnt crack the glass.

Okay, thanks. Well then, looks like tomorrow is going to be a cleaning day for the terrarium, which should be interesting with having the 3 of them in there. :D
Burt looks to be courting both females regularly, and hopefully that will bring eggs along.

Yeah, I'm guessing you will need to remove those three. Just find a deep bowl or box and throw some coconut husk in there with a couple sticks and plop them in till you're done. Shouldnt be an issue.
