This second bout of IPs looks more mucus-ey and less worm-ey - I'd say protozoan IPs, which have multiplied now that the tapeworm is dead. The flubendazole and metronidazole should be effective on them, but may take more time to work. Metronidazole can be added to the water as well, it can be absorbed through the gills, and will kill lingering protozoans from poo that may be in the filter or gravel. Metronidazole, while not a reliable treatment in itself, will help kill freeswimming ich.

Here's a picture this morning. It still has mucus and just one stringy in it.

Such a poor girl, and she's looking gorgeous through the whole ordeal!

I'd agree though, while I"m not an expert, I'd say this isn't tapeworm-looking, but either just an irritated digestive system not digesting the shrimp all that well or the work of other, less harmful parasites...

Here's a good close up of Annabelle's new ip's. After reading an article in another forum it don't sound good at all.

According to the website it's called Camallanus cotti and Camallanus lacustris, can anyone confirm this for me?
Symptoms:Inflammation in the vent area and might have been passing whitish, mucusy feces.
Suggestions:
The best thing you can do is net out the sufferer, gently euthanise it. If the fish is too far gone.
Treatment:Levamisole hydrochloride (effective as anti-worming agent), fenbendazole, fresh garlic extracts.


Her vent looks just like the one in the picture on their website. Someone please please please tell me what to do!

Well, the bright side is, Anabelle does not look "Too far gone". I betcha she has a good fighting chance!

I've also been keeping a diary on everything I've done, I told him in the pm if he wants me to send a copy of the diary to shoot me an email. I am going out of my mind right now! I'm so upset!

Well I kind of got a response. I was asked to meet in the chat room so we could talk but I couldn't get in. Not enough post is what it said, I was denied acess! Don't they know this is an emergency!

Well, it seems to me that Annabelle's infestation isn't at the "Severest" level. I would treat her and the tank hard with worming the worming meds suggested. Is she still eating? If it doesn't seem to be eating enough you may want to consider force feeding again with the meds mixed in.

Feeding her small amounts twice a day with food soaked in gel-tek. She eat's every bit of it and begs for more. But I don't give in.

OMG! She'll have to be all right. She made it this far. Seriously, she's done amazingly... why shouldn't she be able to beat this one?
