I would keep Bacon at around the same temp as seven but the thermo i got isnt program able

Thanks all! =) lol salinity is about 1.021-1.0215 so I have a bit more work to do when I have to add water next. Oh well, at least things are stabling out. Definitely interesting to watch the changes in the rocks.

So, ammonia and nitrites are both at 0 today. SG is at 1.0215-1.022 (really right in between). I was about to type "my only real problem is is that my temperature I think is too high" but I just pulled the thermometer to test it, and I think I got a faulty thermometer >< it's been reading 84.5 f the last two days, but the water is cold, and my heater isn't that high. Also, it's not 95 f in my house LOL. So I am going to assume, but I don't know, that the temp is about 77.5 or so, since it's been stable at that temp for the last week and a half.


What is my next step? Do I keep testing the water for another week to make sure it stays at 0 for both ammonia and nitrites? I am not sure what to do at this point. Sorry guys.

Yes keep an eye if it remains stable you should be good to go

The crabs were in Shanghai, but the bananas were in Japan. They said that there is a 100% guarantee that the crabs are live, and if one is dead you get 3x your money back. Buddy loads 100 crabs a day and makes about $400! The lady with the bananas, in 3 months, sold 5000 bananas @ about $1.50 each (or $2500 per month).

The numbers are crazier than the videos!

That's interesting LOL. I was just thinking of the poor crabs haha. Guarantee'd live huh? Interesting....

On another note, I have this interesting, rust colored fuzz (for lack of a better description) growing all over the rocks and some of the shells. Not sure if I can get a great pic, but I can try. I just wanted to know if this was normal, and if it was a good "fuzz" or not lol. Thanks guys =)

I would say diatoms. Take a turkey baster and blow it off and let the filter take care of it. Is all the water in your tank RO/DI water?

Yup. A total water volume of 45 gallons. You were right about the stores....we found a store that if you prepay $20, you get 160 gallons. To me it's "for free" but it comes out to be like, $.14 cents a gallon. It's awesome LoL.

So, I am a few days shy of my two weeks, but I have been testing twice daily since Monday, so I went out and got two emerald crabs and two hermits....Think they are called brown clawed crabs. I looked at so many crabs today that I only know that I got two of the cheapest ones I could find LoL. I don't need to spend $20 on a potential meal for my future little Yoshi haha. The guy did give me 8 more shells so the crabs would have homes to grow into, and he took all of these out of their established saltwater tanks! ^.^ lots of coraline on them, and I found that I even had a baby starfish hitchhiker on one. Think I have a total of about 18 (20 if you count the two on the hermits themselves) shells in there now. I am really hoping that I get a little GSP that will leave them alone, LoL. Going to leave these four in here for another 2 weeks and see how it goes =) if everything is seeming to do well, then I am putting a call in to the LFS to tell them to order my little baby!

LoL we think along the same lines...

So, I have seen some bubble algae starting to appear. They are super tiny, so they are kind of hard to pick off by hand, and they are in impossible spots. What's a good way to remove them? Will the hermits or emeralds help with this?

Emerald crabs are actually one of the few things able to eat bubble algae.

SCORE!!! LOL and I got them because they were cute!! Think 2 are enough? I have two hermits and two emeralds....already have seen one crab swap shells with almost every shell in the tank.....

That sucks, I have some bubble showing up now and my dang emerald died
