Re: New Tank for Balki!
OMG no! Balki would be TERRIFIED! lol
Unfortunately there would be no way to get a proper angle to photograph or video, but today we came home and Balki had stuck himself head first in a smallish cavity in the rock, with only his butt and tail sticking out, and he was napping. If you looked in from the side, you could make out one of his jazz fins fluttering slightly to keep balance. It took me a while to find him, but finally saw his tail sticking out at an angle of the side/back of a rock.

Re: New Tank for Balki!
Thank you

I'm really glad he is happy in his new home because a pacing puffer is about one of the worse things ever.

Re: New Tank for Balki!
The bottom of the tank started leaking this evening. All in all dumped about 10 gallons of water onto the carpet. Roba (husband) managed to find a replacement tank on Craigslist, go pick it up within a few hours. It was filthy, but not all scratched up, and holds a few more gallons than his leaking tank did.
So I pretty much have the most unhappy puffer. He really loved his tank. The water in his new tank is still murky/cloudy, so his rocks are just in thee in no particular formation. We'll need to pick up 15 more gallon of water tomorrow, and hopefully the water will clear up enough for me to arrange his rocks.

Re: New Tank for Balki!
So we are beyond thrilled. It was a giant PITA tip have to clean and set up a tank overnight, but Balki loves it! No sulking, he's swimming around exploring. He must not have truly liked the other tank :/

Re: New Tank for Balki!
It was epic sucks doodoo, but it's a nice tank and he loves it. Moving the sand was tedious. The background had to be tooted out since it was attached to a crate on the bottom and we couldn't get the sand out any other way. Also, the old tank is faulty, there is an issue with a "support" bar on the bottom. It's really scratched up too.

Re: New Tank for Balki!
Yes I do know what caused the leaking. Someone built this tank, and the design is faulty. The bottom of the tank has a "support"bar, but they bent it as if theywere trying to support the bottom, but all it does is pull at the bottom seams. We tried to reseal 3 times before we set it up, and we thought we had it. It's not common for commercially built tanks to leak, but when we bought it, we didn't know it was hand made.

Re: New Tank for Balki! *again*
The power head in the corner with the prefilter sponge is just to help get the water clear, no background, haven't decided on the, thinking of still doing a shadow box, but this is it so far. I'm very pleased that this tank has thick glass
