Bloat is enjoying the extra sand I added to his tank

he could have buried further but was lazy lol. But it looks like I will be adding more sand now that i have to change to CC in my 20L

He kinda just put his head down and swam forward to get under the sand LOL.


But now im dealing with my first hunger strike. Ever since the milky water mistake he has refused to eat anything. Ive tried crayfish, crab legs, and earthworms. He just swims away from them.

tried those soaked in garlic? how long has it been? do you leave them in the tank for a while before removing?

No I havent tried garlic(forgot I had some till you just made me thing about it) Been about 5-6 days now, usually when I skip just 1 day he is begging like crazy and nails earthworms before they are even fully in the tank.

And Ill leave them in there for 10 mins or so, he just turns his back and swims away.

I know he wont starve himself to death, so Im not overly concerned yet.

yeah definitely no concern yet, its if you start to really see a turn for the worse. troender made a thread, two weeks without food and they still seemed to be normal puffs, just extra hungry lol. so you still have a bit before it would probably even effect your puff

I told my gf that I have my first hunger strike on my hands and she started laughing. She didnt realize that puffers can be so emotional or stubborn and would do things like this

lol most people dont, and i found that when i tell someone about my GSP when i had it and certain things it would do, they would always say "i didnt know fish could be like that" or "really? your fish acts like a dog?"

and thats why it pisses m me off when people say "but its just a stupid fish". Then I show them video's of Bloat begging for food, smiling, and just acting like a puppy, and video's that show his intelligence when hunting and stalking prey.

yeah i used to have a vid on my phone of my puffer swimming up to my finger and rubbing his body on it, looking up through the surface at me if i took my finger away, and i also had one of him hunting ghost shrimp with his "hunting colors" on to show the hunting nature and intelligence. also my pictures people would say that they swore he would just come up and pose for me lol cause they were almost always good pictures and he had his eyes fixed on the camera. he was a riot, i really need another puff

Ya, they are highly addictive. Bloat isnt good at pics cause he has a bum eye, they are sideways pics cause he sees me best that way

I wonder if this might be close to breeding season in the wild and the hunger strikes on a large fahaka could be feeling the natural effects. Just a thought though.
