The lfs said to add 2g per litre so have added 260g marine salt, hope that won't destroy my filter. Is he likely to recover? He is still ramming the glass and decor and his mouth looks swollen.

If they use table salt, its still most likely fresh water. Its highly unlikely that they use more than "tonic" amounts of 1-2 Tbs. per gallon, which does not make brackish water. So he's fine in the freshwater. Just get the Melafix and Pimafix and treat with that, as well as large volume water changes.

You can't measure the salinity accurately with g/ltr measurements, you need either a hydrometer or refractometer. Ramming the glass is more likely a sign of boredom and stress, and if the salinity were a big change for him, he'd likely be dead by now of osmotic shock IMO.

More that likely, as BM said, he was in "salted" water, not saltwater. BIG difference.

I am concerned that in every pic, his mouth is slightly open. How do his teeth look?

He continued to throw himself at the glass and you are right, his mouth was staying open all the time so we returned him to the store. They didn't seem too bothered, said that was normal behavior for a puffer acclimatising, yeah right.
