Oh crap. I have a biowheel on my GSP's tank. The SG is at .008. Last Fri I cleaned the tank and today made 5days since doing that. This is the longest I've gone between cleanings so far. The nitrates were inbetween 10-20. Last week they were at 10. I noticed a left gill was a bit red so I did a water change. Do I need to take the biowheel off now? I have a classic eheim that I haven't hooked up yet. After that has ran for a few weeks could I just use that? I mentioned on the hospital forum that I had a biowheel and no one said a word.

I think the emporer has a biowheel, which would eventually pose a problem due to the salt. I'd go with the Aquaclear.

I wouldn't worry too much about. I have a biowheel filter on Milton's tank and my Sw tank. It gets annoying because you get a lot of salt build up and I have to top off my tank every week but its not too bad. The biowheel makes the water spray which makes salt build up but it doesn't bother me too much. Its not going to hurt your puffer unless you let the water evaporate soo much that the salinity starts to get higher, I've never had a problem with this though. Just remember when you top off your tank use freshwater instead of brackish.

Biowheels and brackish can just get messy.. they shouldn't really hurt your fish.

But if the salt spray gets on your tank stand, woodwork, walls, etc, it can do some damage.
