Like I said I'm male and don't have a clue about cleaning products, ouch, swift dig from my wife.

I am not keeping it going, I think a full thorough cleaning and replacement filter pads and substrate followed by a fresh cycle will be best.

I hated watching the last one die, never again.

I was the same when my T Turgidus died

ripped entire tank down, boiled filter sponges, completely gutted the tank, swapped sand for gravel, all new plants, wood the lot.

Paranoid...me...never

No need to boil, with OxyClean.
