120 gallon is hard to come across.. I have someone who has a 92 corner bowfront though.. Very large ... Unique shape so the puffer wouldn't have as much cruise-around when he gets big.. but definitely enough room to spin. What do you guys think of a 92 gallon corner tank for a Fahaka?

I wouldn't put mine in one, not after seeing how much swimming around he does. He doesn't just turn in circles.

Boy 120 gallon footprint is like impossible to find amongst the used tanks on Craigslist. Lots of 125 gallon tanks.. Could get a brand new All-Glass with stand for just under $500 from a local fish store here.

I saw an interesting footprint on a Top Fin tank at PetSmart.. was a 150gallon, I think it was like 48x24x30 .. very neat looking footprint. Too many gallons for my floor though.

So tomorrow I'm heading to the three big local fish stores in Minneapolis/St Paul to get quotes on 120 gallon, 48x24x24 tanks and stand. This is going to be brutal I fear.. They have specials on 125 gallon and stand for $500.. but 120 gallon is a very uncommon footprint.. People usually want length not width

Anyone know what I should be paying for a 120 gallon AGA and stand? Ballpark figure?

If you are adept at DIY woodworking, I would suggest building a stand by yourself. I'd personally not trust the stands in stores, they just look so flimsy; that and they are expensive.

But if the tank warranty depends on purchasing the manufacture's stand, then you don't have much of a choice.

There's a local store here, they run more warehouse style. They buy direct from All Glass, so their tank prices are very reasonable.

A 120 runs $299 for the tank or they also have an off brand 110 (48x24x22'') for $178. Neither of those include the stands, and I would agree, build your own stand, the prebuilt ones are flimsy and expensive. But their stands, for the 48x24 footprint, start at $250 for pine, $700ish for oak.

Well I called the biggest dealer of tanks in the area.. 120 gallon AGA -- Tank only $360, Tank/tops/lights $499, Oak stand, $210.

Seems a little hefty but the lady said they usually sell the 125s because the people like length and not width...so they can sell those for $499 for tank, tops, lights, and stand.

This tank doesn't have a chance at fitting in my car I will probably have to rent a UHaul since I haven't made too many acquaintances with trucks in this area yet.

I will post when I have pulled the trigger on this.. Maybe next payday I am thinking.

Well I checked out tanks.. Found a few of them, seems like it's going to be around $700 for a brand new AGA 120 gallon + stand, or about $950 for a 180gal + stand.

I actually located a Fahaka puffer at a rinky dink fish store.. $49.99, lady said he's been there 2-3 weeks.. Asked her how long they could hold it if I bought it, she said only a week or so.. so I said I'll be back.

The 180gal looks like a perfect home for the Fahaka, 120gal feels deep enough but not really long enough... I may dive into the 180.. It's amazing putting this tiny 3" Fahaka into a tank big enough for me to submerge myself in, lol.

This may seem like a really stupid question..but this 120/180 gal I am considering, the only spot left in my apartment is right where I was going to put my plasma TV on the wall.. I know those wallmounts are really good and all, but would it be safe to mount one above the tank? I was worrying about evaporation and such, but if the lids are cut properly..

Anyone dealt with something like this?

a 180gal tank.. I may have to mount the TV pretty high, but it shouldn't be too high I don't think.

Kind of an interior decorator's question really.. If you were laying on the floor, you probably couldnt see the TV.. from either of the couches, I think you would be fine.

So I think I made my up my mind.. I think I will dish out the extra cash and go for the 180 gallon for the Fahaka (who has yet to be purchased). I saw one at a LFS and it looked like the perfect tank for a monster puffer.

I just have to hope that my 3" Fahaka at a LFS will be there when I go back when I have the tank ready.

Next payday I go for a UHaul and the 180 gal tank!

2'x2' min. I have a 150g I will be use, 5ft in length.
