he is some times only recently, so next water change i'll move some of the fake plants around and stuff

i dont have a back ground on this tank as its at the end of my bed and i like to look at in bed and when i wake up

Sorry I've not searched for your picture thread Mike to take a look at your tank but could you add ocean rock (apologies if it's already in there). I've got around 50KG in a 50 UK (60 US) gallon cube and my ceylon rarely paces unless I go up to the glass. You can make loads of caves out of it and periodically shift it all about to keep him interested

but anyway, i do not have any ocean rock , i do have a couple lava rocks that he occasionally swims through, but its a bit of a tight fit --- ha!

i rearrange some from time to time, but could certainly do more of that to try and keep him happy

A potential breakthrough ---

Ok, so i left my light off yesterday while i was at work. Normally i turn it on when i leave in the morning (8am) and keep it on until i go to bed (11pm) --- which i realized might be too much lights-on time --- ive read 12hrs is optimal

when i came home, the little guy was sleeping and he woke up rested, happy, hungry and did some exploring

there was still a little glass pacing, but he seemed happier

my lightings on a timer and is about the same time as yours, i might try that 12 hours thing, maybe 11am-11pm so i can watch him in bed at night

yeah, a timer sounds like a good investment, espcially since i plan trying out some live plants once i get my new plant-friendly lighting up and running ---

also, the new light has a moonlight feature which will be awesome if its not too bright to let him relax ---

Cool a moonlight function sounds great

so is it like a dimmer switch or a differant colour?

i think its another bulb with what they are calling a "Moon White Lunar Light" --- not sure how its gonna look, but ill let you know ---

Just backtracking 10-12 hours is optimal in terms of lighting period

thanks --- i do think i was overdosing the light -- 15 hours

that much awake time is bound to make anyone cranky

i think i'll switch it to 12 hours tonight and se how we go,

i do like to watch him sleeping, he finds new spots all the time, some times its in a dip in the sand out the current or on top of the filter or by the heater, he hasnt really used his double caves yet but time will tell lol

Maybe he's just an outdoors kind of guy and doesn't beleive in the confines of a cave. Damn Hippy!!
