He's definitely from the same family as a Ceylon, just a different species.

Take away the different colour marking from groups like the target puffers and the carinotetraodons and a lot of them would look exactly the same physically. There are exceptions to this but to the untrained eye you would be hard to spot the difference.

Have a look at this thread from TAN. He picked up one of these, there's a nice comparison shot with his Ceylon.

What a difference an afternoon makes, compare these to the ones I took earlier today, he's a different puffer, you can really see his makrings clearly now.

He's finally beginning realise there is 3.5 ft more tank to exlpore, slowly but surely he's gaining in confidence in his new surroundings.

do you think it had something to do with the tank clearing? and then him not trying to copy the cloudy colour of the tank? just a thought

I dont think the cloudy water had anything to do with it, I think he's just been sulking after being bagged, a noisy ride in a car and chucked in unfamiliar surroundings with a higher Ph and water hardness.. I'd imagine its a lot to get used to.

Possibly Tetraodon Sabahensis but I think this is still up in the air at the moment.

After seeing him Hilly all I can say is that he is not patterned like a ceylon or a GSP.

Whatever he is, he's looking a lot better now. Beautiful markings on him.

It did lighten up briefly but its black again. I'm not too worried at this stage about a black belly. his behaviour isnt that of a stressed puffer we will see how it changes in time.

Oh, no, I didn't mean the color of his tummy, I meant the empty look of it.

Ahh I see, he had a cockle today and 2 prawns yesterday, i'm trying not to put too much strain on the filter to give it time to adjust to the SG. So he's gonna have to live with some small feedings for now and then i'll fatten him up.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply you weren't feeding him enough! Just that it doesn't look like he's had much to eat before you got him.

I think the guy in the shop said he had feen fed a couple of days before I picked him up, I think it will take quite a bit to fill up this ones belly.
