Tangs are most definitely SW.

Cichlid folks refer to fish from Lake Tanganyika as "tangs". Out-of-group , esp. around folks w/SW, "tangs" refer to a group of reef fish, thus the term creates confusion.

Seachem "salt" (live bearer salt?) is not marine mix. For BW fish you should be using marine mix.

Thanks RTR, I didn't know Seachem made regular aquarium salt, just assumed it was marine salt. My bad.

It is buffered salt, so may be related, but I have not asked for an analysis of it (they tend to be open about such). But I would not select a bandaid where marine mix is preferable, highly standardized, and likely cheaper.

I've been in way too many salt battles lately. One guy dumped his red claw crab from a FW tank with some aquarium salt in it into an uncycled tank with 1.007 SG of marine salt and wants to know why its not moving. Another one insisting that aquarium salt is good for disease prevention and stress reduction (yes, I've sent them the link to the Skeptical Aquarist about salt debunking the myths but still, its "magic"). Several others about table salt being used for ich treatment. Another about using cichlid salt for marine tanks. Sheesh! The mind reels sometimes!

You can use table sale for ich treatment.

I know, others have said no because of the iodide and/or anti-caking stuff. I said the fish would be pickled before that stuff affected them. Everytime I say its fine, someone jumps down my throat.

The one guy siad it, i am new to salt and Tangs, are africian cicjlids from the lake, i guess there are slat water tangs. lol never knew

Hey, i lost 1 puffer, but the other in the tank is looking good. I have been soaking brine shrimp and krill in the junglu ip treatment and some garlic.

Now 1 is gaining weight and the other looks perfect , he is a little bigger and brighter.

One thing , now the puffers seem to be hanging out by the surface and swimming in current, more surface and no real exploring of the tank.

Is his belly white or dark?

Are you sure your temperature isn't too high? If the temp is too high there's less oxygen and he could be staying in the current to get more oxygen.

Or he could just like to exercise a lot, usually if they are sick they'll try to get away from the current.

Get yourself the right kind of salt and make sure you keep up with water changes so he can stay healthy, and you'll have yourself a nice happy puffer in no time.

(Sorry guys, I read this before and meant to tell you he was talking about a type of cichlid, not saltwater tangs, and completely forgot... could have avoided some confusion)
