Aside from the lack of nutritional value in mealworms, have you ever fed your puffer mealworms before? At least for my fahaka, it was an absolute mess to clean up since the shell is difficult for them to digest. Just for the mess they cause on exit, I will always avoid them as puffer food or even treats, lol. I'm sure every little morsel of anything a puffer will eat is a treat to them, especially since we "never, ever feed them".

I've used mealworms for treats quite a bit, including the pupae. Yes, the residues can be ID's, but so can shrimp shells/parts. To me it is just something more to Python out.

For some reason, my fahaka's mucus poo sacs (sorry, I'm not sure of a techincal term ...) don't seem to hold the mealworm remenants very well. As for shrimp shells, they actually seem to act as a reinforcement by holding sacs intact until right before syphoning.

Guess it's just different puffs!

Well, if you are mad, it is a shared insanity. How can we not notice/examine the puffer-poo when it is so neatly packaged for us, and sits there just begging to be vacuumed out before it adds to the filter load?

Ha, Does anyone else's Fahaka pull funny faces when pooing?
Martha gets this glassy-eyed look of intense concentration when she needs to go then she skulks off to a stand of plants in the corner and fertilizes them with a furtive grimace.
It's hilarious to watch!

My two F8s have no shame....they can be doing the cockle dance at the front of the tank while openly expelling the remnants of last night's dinner.

The larger puffers, as with cats and dogs, do seem to have deposition sites in the tank. Two of my three Fahakas did so, as did the mbu.

That is interesting - wonder if they do in the wild?

Apparently, a lot of animals get a bit secretive when pooing and weeing as they're more vulnerable to attack at that time, so they get a bit bashful and furtive-looking.
When I was a student, with my cat, she was so funny about using her litter tray that I got a little screen for her to go behind.
If you looked round the screen at her she really didn't like it. She was ok with me, but anyone else...the ears would go back and they'd get THE LOOK.

not for me but for my sister he does, the litter is in the laundry and i was doing a batch of shirts.

he came in with his kitty newspaper.

we both knew what was going to happen so i let him at it, but then my sis walked in he immediatly turned around and hissed at her.

that only happened once though now hes given up the whole privacy thingy

Our Fahaka will eat mealworms and our palembangs love them, but neither species will eat superworms (sold here as jumbo mealworms), They bite them then spit them out.

With our Fahaka dental care is mostly pond snails, cooked prawns and crab legs & claws from the fishmonger.

I've noticed that my 12" Pleco has a certain spot as do my F8s. None of my other fish do.

Oh, and since we're speaking of poo. My mr asked me if our big T.miurus goes while he is buried in the sand or if he comes out to do his business. What do you guys think?
