If the white dots are raised above the surface of the skin, you have a problem. If they are recessed, then they are likely pores.

I think I worry about my little guys too much.

On another note...when I raised that water to 86F the puffers seemed really happy, they were fluttering around and really colorfull.

Don't be too embarrassed. Many new Puff owners mistake the spines for ick.
