That's as may be but in the natural world clean water is very rarely sterile, which is what we are adding to our tanks when we do water changes. With adequate filtration you should be removing most unwanted particles while maintaining micro fauna/flora, large water changes remove everything, all the good stuff included. That's why I use good filters with multi-stage filtration, and do small water changes.
