That's about 20 gallons. The minimum is 29. I would try to get a bigger tank for it when you can.

So I tried krill soaked in garlic. I got him to get the whole thing in his mouth and he chewed it up a bit... then he spit it out and gave me the "where are my bloodworms you bald house-monkey!" look.

Okay, maybe he didn't actually insult my genetic heritage, but the little red spud still won't eat krill. I netted the bits he spat out and will have to try again with something else.

Does anyone know if it would be bad to give a congo mussle meat?

Mine LOVES live shrimp that I get from rockpools, but if you don't live near the coast you could also give earth worms a go - he loves those too - basically anything that moves! I have tried giving mine blood worm but he doesn't like it - I think I've spoiled him too much

mine is a similar size maybe 3''and I have had him for about 18months now, he is also extremely picky!! He loves large fresh blood worms and begs for them at least once a day, other than that he will eat the odd live ghost shrimp when I can find them and I have seen him nibble tiny snails off the glass but big snails that dare to intrude in his tank, he kills but never attempts to eat!
I also have a problem right now as my blood worm supplier seems to have a supply problem in the summer. I have 'tricked' him into eating little bits of mussel and smelt fish but he will only eat the first bit and ignores anymore I add to the tank and usually digs in disgust!!! I have tried leaving it in the tank overnight as he is more active at night but he doesn't touch it and follows me around in the morning begging me for his usual big wiggly worms!! I have thought about trying to dig up a few worms again but have tried him in the past and had the usual refusal! Sounds to me like these 3 Congo puffers must be related lol. If anything mine is a little too porky for his own good so I am not stressing too much about him not eating right now, but I do feel horribly guilty when he bats his eyes at me 2 or 3 times a day when he paces furiously up and down the tank following my every footstep demanding his worms!!
If you have any success, I will be very interested to know

Always eats whatever I dangle in front of him - mussel, clam, shrimp, krill, earthworms...he prefers substantial food as you can see - as opposed to itty bitty bloodworms which he has no use for.

OK well I've just found out mine is actually an Arrowhead - not a congo puffer!! Sorry guys! Sounds like Congo's might be more picky over all cause I've never had a problem feeding my arrowhead!
