They died... all very close together. None of the other tank mates (BB gobies and my F8) had any problems and my water tested out. I hope they died because they had a short life span like many of the small gobies I've read about.
Another reason I'd love to keep them in a species tank and try to give them very specific care... I'd love to breed them since they were so much fun, so pretty, and seem quite rare (at least in the aquarium trade).

I threw all of the decent pictures of my white-cheeks here:
http://www.ratsy.net/white-cheek/
I was a bit lazy so I didn't add any nice html... sorry. All of the pictures are full size and I didn't do any cropping or anything, so they are large.
I did scale one picture down so I could include it here:

I like this one since he is sitting next to a BB gobie which gives a good sense of scale. You can also see the red on his gill covers that got very vivid when chasing around the female white-cheek.

They are very cool.
They are sub-tropical, if that means anything, and should be in lower temps than your puffer tank likely was.

Bugger, I did not know that! I kept my tank at 78F. Another good reason for a species tank! (I'll be sure to look at the link as soon as fishbase gets up again... it seems a bit broken right now.)
Thanks for the info lisalisa! I had a hard time tracking down info on them. They are often mis-named "Rhinogobius wui" and that added to my initial confusion. I did eventually find the right name, "Rhinogobius duospilus".
I guess that also means I _don't_ recommend them as tankmates for F8s anymore
However, they were cool enough to recommend them as a nifty fish by themselves! I'm going to check with the fish store in San Diego where I found them when I go out there next month for Comic Con. I'll be bringing my ice chests and battery powered air pumps
