My SEA CLEAR acrylic 100 gallon is 5 feet long, 20 inches tall and 18 inches deep to the wall fyi.
Although we calculated the volume using a formula measuring the inside of the tank and it came out to like 85 gallons.
So they are selling a "100 gallon tank" that is actually only 85 gallons.
How can they do that I wonder.

Not when you are paying thru the nose for salt it isn't imho. Oh yeah then there is the extra cost of LR. Ack!Tihsho wrote:Yeah, bigger the tank the better, no?
I suppose "the bigger the better" would be true from the fish's perspective.
I'm already feeling the shock of the 100 gallon marine tank on my bank account. The idea that my S&S is going to get 18" and need a 400+ gallon tank makes me shudder at times.
It will be worth every penny though.

and a S&S does not need 400 plus gallons. it will be happy in a 125 very sparsly populated with fish, or a 180 with a few friends. otherwise a 400 is simply to have alot more space.
if you can swing the 400 sure, but a porc gets 18" and it is agreed upon that a 125 thats 6ft long x2ft deep is minimum a 180 is fine.

yes they grow to a max size of 12 inches. I was wondering more of the max size tank for it.
Thanks.
We are thinking of building a tank for Brindy. That way we can make sure she has plenty of space.
We have some glass already because we never got to build our other tank that was going to house some Oscars and JDs now he wants to use it for my puffer so I can have my dream salt tank.
Could probably house a dog face or porcupine by that time it is completed but will house my Brindy instead.
Thanks.
