Thats good to hear. Be sure to keep a good eye on it and note down your experiences aswell as the puffs behaviors. As perek mentioned this species is hardly seen in the aquarium and not much is known about it.

This statement is incorrect. There are many puffers labaled 'fugu'. Fugu is a generic term for pufferfish in many cases. I do agree that the ocellatus you mention is not a good choice.

Taking on a puffer that is notoriously hard to keep and historically doomed in home aquaria is a bad idea. If anything, it should be cautioned against as perek and lisa have. A fish best left in the wild, IMO.

There are much easier to keep fugus around. IMO, I wouldn't keep this particular species at all in captivity. Extremely low sucess rate.

yeh some of the 'fugu' puffers look a lot like the C. patoca and T. oblongatus or however u spell it...

so yeh that name doesnt refer to a species well =x

IMO if you had the time, space, and patience I would go for it. To have a puff that has limited success in the aquarium live would mean more 'experience' has been brought into the puff world. But as it was stated if you are just starting keeping puffs you might want to look for something a little easier and basic.

I've had charlie for over a year and I got another one for the company. They seem to be doing fine. he's on a diet of brine shrimp and the occasional feeder that they still from the royal knife. And if you wondering, due to the reference to royal knife, they are in fw currently. I have been considering changing them over to sw but all of that is still in the works.

brine shrimp isnot really that nutritional especially for puffers.Feeders are not too good either, Try looking in the library for the feeding article.There are alot better options.
