My crab's name was Crabby... I was good at naming pets as a kid... lol.

I think I may have read it, was it the one where the crab's legs were torn off but they puff didn't touch it's body? That was a sad thread and convinced me not to ever feed crabs.

I once had a GSP puff... I started to panic a bit (according to my wife anyway) and then he pooped. A lot.

I guess he was backed and and had to push...

I did see one of my dwarf puffers puff when another dwarf bit it... little wankers were fighting over a bloodworm. Then there was the time my F8 got sucked into the gravel vac...

I don't mind "practice" puffing although I've never seen any of my puffs do it. I always get a bit worried if I see a puffer puffing. All but the "constipation incident" stressed them (and me) out, so I'm not big on seeing them puff.

yep thats the thread...

the worst part was, i euthanized the crab...with a hammer.... and i hit it a little to hard.....

my friend thought it was soooo funny, he took a picture of the crater. he will never let me live that one down lol.

Only experience I have had with a puff puffing was when my first figure 8 I had decided he wanted to take a trip up the gravel vac. Funny thing about it though was he didn't puff in the tube. He puffed 5 minutes after he came out of it.

You are so lucky! My stupid gravel vac had a "self start" mechanism. It was like a little cube with two small openings and a flapper inside. My F8 puffed inside the mechanism and was stuck... I could see her tail on one end and her little beak on the other. I had to carefully cut the thing open with a pair of wirecutters... underwater. It took (what seemed) a very long time. Once she was free, I put her back in the water all puffed up (and floating!!!) and she deflated.

I then started crying and nearly puked from the stress. All of my gravel vacs are now just straight tubes... no fancy mechanisms ever again :2:

BTW, Fluffy is still alive (two years later) but a bit skittish when I do water changes or open the hood to fast.

Your puff must have been small to fit in the hole of the intake of the selfstarters. The hole is not even a half inch.

She was a very young puff... she's grown quite a bit since. Plus not having ribs may mean puffs are more "squish-able"; I was surprised she fit too.

Buts still, no ribs or with ribs thats a lot of puff in such a small hole.

She definitely wouldn't fit now. <whisper> She's got a bit of a weight problem... we're working on it. </whisper>

Puffer with a wait problem? Nooooo. Its called baby fat Baby fat that they get every meal that seems to last a day.

You know my puff actually didn't seem really stressed after he puffed. Do they ALWAYS get stresses? and isn't it a natural thing for them to do so it can't be to life threatening. I may be wrong. let me know.

crickets ? can you feed a gsp crickets! i had no idea.. if so, i am DEFF trying that ! !

Oh yes, GSPs love crickets. I get about a dozen of them at a time as an occasional treat. I plump them up on fish food in QT for a couple days before feeding a couple at a time to the GSP with tweezers. They usually last a couple days.
