there should be an air adjustment screw. try moving that back and forth and see what you get.
also i do think your salinity is probably too low to really see frothing yet.

The only adjustment I've seen is the raising or lowering of the cup.

I've tried the air thing, and the collection cup. I'm praying it's just my salinity.

Probably is. That's a fairly good skimmer (for a small tank).

The only downside is that I got it used. I think I paid too much for it, too. It was $80 and shipping was $20, plus it came with a rio or whatever pump so I got a.... I forget what pump. The really good one everyone suggests for it. maxi-jet, I think?

yes but what sg is that?
Also, I see no froth when I run it. Is it just the bubble size that determines froth? I get lots of fine bubbles all in the water in the column but no froth on top.
