Nitrate was really high, 160ppm. I am assuming there is something I can do to lower the levels of nitrite and nitrate? How bad is it for those two to be that high?

Hahaha okay, okay, I am thoroughly entranced.
Were the levels alarming? Should I just go about the normal once per week routine or should I do one (or multiple) per day until the levels drop and THEN go about my once per week 50% changes?

If there is any detectable nitrite, it can be quite toxic for your fish & should be kept at 0 always. Nitrate should remain <20.
