Thanks for sharing, hope it heals up nicely. I have 17 tanks which all house different species of piranhas and puffers and have been patiently waiting for the same to happen to me. My abei tried to eat my thumb nail once when cleaning his tank but was fortunate enough that his bite was at just enough of an angle that he slid off the nail.

Very few puffer are really mean. They have no hands and fewer fins than most fish, plus they do have highly specialized teeth. They explore the world by taste, sight, and crunch.

I have only had one, repeat, just one, mean puffer. That was the only fish I have kept of which I was physically afraid.

I've had many more mean Cichlids.

I'm afraid to feed my Oscars.

Luckily, I haven't been bitten either! (Just tiny nips from dps and the cleaner shrimp lol) But then Lila is afraid of my hand... I'm terrified of getting diseases from my tank! I have these gloves for when I'm fooling with the sw tanks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001PBEJ0 ... SY165_QL70

I had a breeding pair of Oscars that I stupidly trained to jump out of the water for food... Can you imagine anything more stupid? Thankfully I learned my lesson quite quickly.

I consider Clownfish and Cichlids the worst nippers I have kept, but then I have never kept any of the real tank-busters other than one T. mbu, and I did not know what I was getting into then and would not do so again.

I don't really think 'disease' is the right word. Your aquarium water has bacteria in it, naturally, and if you were to stick your hand in the tank with an open wound, it could end up infected. This is why we say keeps your hands out of your tank water if you have any open wounds, and, in the case of a fishie chomp or other injury sustained while your skin is submerged in water, it should be disinfected immediately.

I have recently discovered, it is my reef tanks giving me quick-spiking, HIGH fevers (last one was 103.3). It makes it a lot easier to tear them down now, for my impending move.

And RTR, don't EVEN get me started on the biggest a-holes in the fish world: clownfish! How do they know to always bite the soft, tender, sensitive webbing between your fingers, with their needle-sharp teeth???

Clownfish have sharp, pointy teeth? Now I know where the idea for It came from.

I didn't train mine and they do it EVERY time the lid opens. And I get fish slapped regularly.

They are constantly scratching and banging thier heads on the lids.....which looks just like hith. And that freaks me out so Im constantly cheaking thier heads.

But clownfish are sooo cute! Everybody loves them. If they only knew! I gave up clowns because I lost too many days of work from nipped hands.

Oh no, you mean Nemo's a nasty? Say it isn't so!

Yikes!

Nemo is a meat-eater. It may be invert or fish meat, but it is meat. They do not often get the chance to consume higher animal warm-blooded meat, but Clownfish, like puffers, are willing to taste-test.
