How about this one?

lol, that's a fatty. What kind is that?
*Is that the "Bronze/Golden Puffer"-Auriglobus modestus? They seem to look so different from pic to pic. At first I didn't like them cause they didn't have that puffer-look but apparently that's not the case. What are your thoughts on these? (whether it's one or not) Also, why is it in it's own species?

I really like the SAPs (mainly cause they are somewhat "nice" and like being in groups), but would like something bigger. I think I could handle their teeth issue.
I could always go with the famous Figure 8s too. Everyone always seems to love those.

Not really fat, more deep-chested & flatter than most puffers.

These are very active guys also..and extremely aggressive. That's why these are usually alone.

What are you thoughts on spotted congo puffers (tetraodon turgidus)? There's a realllly old thread on this site about them. Just looking for something current. I have read they aren't very active. Also, what about targets puffers (tetraodon leiurus)?

I have also noticed sometimes the name is "monotrete" instead of tetraodon. Why is this used interchangably?

You were correct: modestus. I kept one with a Royal pleco it never bothered. Killed a bunch of other fish, too, including new modestus I tried to add. If you get more than 1, they must be bought as juvies & added at the same time.

I loved my turgidus, Beetlejuice but he was very boring... Lots of folks like the abei & the Hairy--all just as boring IMO, though.

It took me years to accept the lurkers on their own terms - I was too used to SAPs and F-8s and hyperactivity in puffer tanks. I still find it amazing that one F-8 can look crowded in a 33XL tank. I considered trying an 8-foot long tank with same cross-section or a bit larger, maybe 18" square cross-section, but would have cost too much. I would have bet one would still fill it, even with ~150 US gallons.

Since the Sabahensis is a lost cause, unless I get lucky (which is Never), I think a Figure-8 would be a good step up. I get a slightly larger puffer and get some experience with brackish water. Even though I get mixed opinions on tanks and attitudes, I feel these guys will give me that personality and look I'm going for.

Still curious about target puffers though. Thoughts on those?
