I use a 100' hose attached to the sink in the basement to do WC on 6 tanks every Tuesday.

With my peculiar multi-tank systems in the main tank room, many to most water partials are dove via floor-level reservoirs/overflow tanks. The Laundry-tub sink there has the Python. That means that the suction requires lifting water from well below the level of the suction device. The shorter the hose, the faster the flow in this situation. If I use the long hose, I waste the majority of the water used in a partial. If the suction operates at or above the level of the suction/flow device, there is little wasted water. I am on penalty rates for water (and power) anyway. I have to try not to be especially wasteful. Most hobbyists do not need such adjustments, as few hobby tank in most set-ups do not involve large tanks below the Python's operating level. The Pyton does not have to be removed from the tap ordinarily, as that sink is dedicated to the fish room. There is a guest bathroom immediately adjacent to the fish room, but it is reserved for the whirlpool bath and guest use. The sink there is used for gravel-washing in winter, but only when we have no house guests. That is basic marriage protection an preservation. (;>)

Thank you all for your information, it's been very helpful! I've still not ordered the unit, the 50' python is where my thoughts are leaning. I believe my water pressure is good enough to do well and all of the tanks are on the second floor as is the faucets. Thanks again! Now I wish I had ordered days ago...water change day today haha bring on the bucket brigade!

A warning message is really due: Buying a Python does make it easier to keep more tanks. I never could manage more than 12 tanks at once before the Python. Since then I have never been able to get back down to just 12 tanks, even with my disabilities...

IDK how you figure the Python weighs much of anything?

Got mine ordered! Also picked up a small vacuum for my cray/shrimp fry tanks...went with the python brand on both..wondering if I should sell my other vacuums or just hold onto them lol I have 3 or sizes for 10 gallon up to 125 gallon. Probably just hold onto them just in case

I thought it might be too random.

I was just joking that buying the python made me gain 20lbs because I no longer had to carry 78 35lb buckets to and from the sink every week.

Aha! I still do a LOT of running up/down stairs disconnect/reconnecting the hose for each tank.

That is quite enough exercise for me. I have not carried water in many decades.
