Damn you're all making me want a mantis shrimp!!! But my sole purpose for getting into saltwater was to have hermit crabs and I don't want them to become shrimp food :(

Any way that a small one could live in a 2.5g? Could I even find small ones somewhere?

I wouldn't really go smaller than 5g. Reef Central has a Stompapod forum.

The small ones are harder to get. Many LFS can order in peacock mantis shrimp but I'd go 25 gls or better for one. You probably want a gonodactylus smithii or similar for a 10g and an even smaller species for a smaller tank.

Yeah but the lil ones are what we find carried in on our LR.
