To shorten a link, instead of encapsulating the link with the (url) (/url) tags, put the link into the first tag and then put some text in between the tags.
Like so:
(url=
http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/species ... e=obscurus )linky!(/url)
be sure to replace the round brackets for square ones and you'll get
this

There's always that. I used to have the firefox tinyurl extension that would let you copy links as tinyurl links. was very handy. i should look that up again.

Wow Sean, Good guess! Although Dr Ebert only has a drawing of it, it does look like that fish a bit. Still am thinking parrot puffer though.

I'll have to try that tinyurl idea...some links i find are horribly long to even cut and past they look like a paragraph.
As for the takifugu obscurus there are a few pics on the net from the site discussing Genome mapping of species in that genus and on fishbase. Better get going before i'm noticed surfing the net
