A close to finalised aquascape

Finally some time to work on the stuff underneath the aquarium.


The 3 extension cords all have their own GFCI breaker right above it. When I ordered the stand I wanted it to be 80cm high so that I would have plenty of space, but forgot about the beams in the middle, so alas, only 60cm of space instead. Luckily the skimmer is only 50cm high. This did mean that I had to order new sump walls, as the glass sheets that I had were too high for the skimmer to operate at and I couldnt raise the skimmer high enough due to the lower height .

Looks nice mate. I would advise getting some of those things you put under furniature legs to spread the load, or placing the stand on a piece of board to prevent damage to your floor under the weight of the tank

I got this construction on purpose, our floor waves around like a mother. This way I can level it out decently. we already have wooden beams running over the concrete, so I am not worried about the weight distribution all that much. If leveling becomes an issue once water is in the tank I'll probably put pieces of plywood under it. Damage to the cheap laminate flooring is not a concern lol, but we have plenty spare boards.


This PurePro Super380 Direct Flow Reverse Osmosis unit is pretty neat. Not sure yet how long it takes to get a bucket as my dear mother in law dropped some stuff in it and I had to start over lol. Need to get a plumber to put it in right, right now I have to remove the faucet to hook up the RO unit . Quite an improvement over the old unit that took a full day for 1 bucket. Long live booster pumps

Aquarium is just over half way and hasn't sunken into the floor yet . Still level too .

Read that not washing your sand is better, something about bacteria. It would just takes longer for everything to settle. So I skipped the washing and started filling the tank, expecting a sandstorm. Looks pretty clear to me though .
