If you have a few tubs of garden compost and then rotate usage and keep in a cool, dark place. Feed with a few flakes of porridge oats and thawed out frozen spinach. You'll suss out how much they need. People have said these worms are fatty but my fish did fine on them. No more weekly trips to the LFS.

So 2 decent sized ramshorns. Cheers for all that. It seems as though Figure 8s teeth aren't a huge problem so it's looking good.
I heard that Black Mollys are a good cleaner fish and maybe ok with an F8, is that true??

I kept 4 balloon mollies with my F8. All was well for a year, then she attacked the mollies one by one. So proceed with caution...

Puffers should always be treated with caution, especially when adding fish friends

Sounds like a Puffer. So a clean up fish is a tricky option?

Hmmm...?? Thanks for that. Experience is key in all this. Any other ideas on a clean up crew?

Nerite snails (Nerita natalensis) are great for algae. They don't clean plants but they keep other decor spotless. They have a small foot that stays under the shell as they graze and hang out. They also have a tight trap door if needed. I've been keeping 4 in my F8 tank since the summer with no issues. The puffs pay them no attention.

Darn, these snails might have been handy with my DP. Been reading that Nerites are good in Marine, Brackish and Freshwater.
My DP was freindly with Ramshorns until I starved her to try to get her on to frozen food and then she ate all the Ramshorns. Spoilt litlle ****!!!!

My f8 and nerite have gotten along fine, nerites are pretty puffer-proof when it comes to smaller puffers. My nerite snail either doesn't like my water or is just stupid though because he refuses to stay in the water, preferring to stay stuck upside down under the aquarium hood. Mine also gets along with a balloon belly molly and bumbleebee gobies, though it hasn't been too long that they've been tankmates, and he's still fairly young. Funny enough, the molly actually bullies the puffer around, chasing him off during feeding time, though he is much bigger.

Just as the above said, try to do a body count every morning and if it's anything like my DP it could get like an episode of Miss Marple.

I tried a few Endlers with my DP once for a trial and the bodies soon started disappearing. Who done it??? Bloody obvious really. She was nasty fish with a cute face; the worst kind!

PS- I did read that Nerite Snails need Brackish water to get it on. Fresh or Marine water is a passion killer.
